**Text:** H.L.Royden &
P.M. Fitzpatrick, *Real Analysis, 4th Edition*, Academic Press. **To** **be
covered:** Most of Chapters 1 - 8.

**Errata:** Prof Fitzpatrick has a link on his web page that
refers to known errata (13 pages long): http://www2.math.umd.edu/~pmf/docs/Extra_Errat_RA.pdf.
Also, some errata could be found here and here (naturally, they overlap).

**Prerequisites:** Math 3001/4001 or equivalent

**Homework Assignments:** Homework will be assigned once a week. All
assignments will be posted on the Web.

**Late
Homework: **If you need an extension,
please ask me in advance, either in person or by e-mail.

**Study
Groups policy: **It is okay if you
discuss your homework with each other or even work together on a homework
assignment. There is no penalty for doing that; However, you have to state so
on the homework when submitted. Absolutely no cooperation is allowed on the
tests.

**Exams and Grading:** There will be a take home midterm (around October 20)
and a take home final exam. Grading policy: homework 20 %, midterm 30%, final
50%.
