This is a sort of unofficial website for this section of this course. The official website can be found here; it includes the syllabus, homework assignments, and the like. This website (the one you are reading right now) is mostly a place to distribute extra materials not on the official site, as well as a place for section-specific information (like exam rooms).
Exams: There will be 3 midterm exams and a final exam. The first two midterms will be in ECCR 1B40 (in the Engineering building) from 5:15-6:45pm. The exams will be on the following dates (all Wednesdays):
- Midterm 1: February 6th, 5:15pm-6:45pm (in ECCR 1B40)
- Midterm 2: March 5th, 5:15pm-6:45pm (in ECCR 1B40)
- Midterm 3: April 9th, 5:15pm-6:45pm (Room TBA)
And the final will be on:
- Final Exam: Wednesday May 7th, 7:30-10:00pm (Room TBA)
Auxiliary Study Materials for Midterms
Below are some exam study materials from previous semesters. I am including these here for those of you who are looking for some extra practice for the exams. These will be helpful, but realize that that they are not necessarily indicative of what will be on our exam.
Note that our exams don't cover exactly the same materials as those of previous semesters, so some of these items cover material that is irrelevant to us. I've tried to indicate this where it occurs.
Midterm 1 (Wednesday, February 6th)
- Here is the first midterm from Spring 2007. Don't do problems 9 or 10.
- A practice exam from Spring 2007, and solutions to it (just do problems 1-4).
- Exam 1 from Fall 2006, with solutions (Don't bother with problems 7 or 8).
- The review sheet for the first exam from Fall 2006. (You should read this... good stuff. Ignore anything about surface area, average value, and stuff that is obviously over sections we have not covered.)
- Practice problems from Spring 2006. Don't bother with problems 4, 10, 37, 56-61, 73, 74, 76, 80, 81, or 83-85. Some of these are hard! Don't sweat it if you can't do every problem on this sheet.
Midterm 2 (Wednesday, March 5th)
This exam will cover sections 8.5, 8.8, 9.1, 9.4, 10.1, and 10.2 of the text.
- Some of the problems from the Midterm 1 materials above that I told you not to look at are over the materials from this midterm. You can figure it out.
- Here is the second midterm from Spring 2007, with solutions. Don't do the last two problems.
- A practice exam from Spring 2007. Don't do problems 4, 8, 9, or 10.
- More practice problems from Spring 2007 and solutions. We don't yet know how to do problems 4a, 4b, 6 or 8.
- A review sheet from Spring 2006. Look at problems 8-44.
Midterm 3 (Wednesday, April 9th)
This exam will cover sections 10.3 through 10.8 of the text.
