Differential Equations, Geometry, and Topology Seminar
1:00 pm, Mathematics 350
In recent years, groupoids have been much studied within topology, geometry, and mathematical physics. It is the goal of the talk to provide an introduction to groupoids and an overview on certain homology theories for groupoids (with a view towards noncommutative geometry). In particular, sheaf cohomology and homology theories for (proper) groupoids will be defined, and the relation between orbifolds and proper etale Lie groupoids will be explained.
