The Warp Drive and Antigravity

1996–2001

This paper shows how Alcubierre’s fanciful mathematical ‘warp drive spaceship’ designed to navigate at will through gravityless space can be modified mathematically to navigate at will through a gravitational field, thus to act as an antigravity machine, shielding its contents from the ambient gravity. The paper suggests a mechanism for producing such a spaceship by diverting the flow of the ‘gravitational ether’ (the flow of space itself, perhaps) around the ship through topological ‘tunnel drainholes’ that are modified versions of the static, spherically symmetric drainholes introduced in Ether Flow Through a Drainhole: A Particle Model in General Relativity.
