Teaching

None this spring, but here is my favorite quote of all time from an FCQ, taken from last semester's graduate Real Analysis:

``Rider mumbles to himself, scrawls illegibly on the board, is ill tempered and generally misanthropic, BUT he's a straight shooter.
I found this class to be a pleasure. I thought real analysis was a bore before taking this class, but now I think it's a really beautiful subject."

Research Interests

Probability:
Largely, spectral properties of random matrices and other random operators.

Here are some talks I gave at MSRI: #1 , #2 , #3 , #4

I am also interested in applications of random matrix theory to wireless communications, and have an opening for a Visiting Asst. Prof. in this direction.

Local Happenings

Present:
Probability Seminar

Past:
"Frontier Probability Days" (University of Utah, March 15-17 2009).
"Random Matrix Theory and Wireless Communication" workshop, July 14-17 2008.
The original "Frontier Probability Days", May 21-22 2007.
